If you
live in Muskingum County and would like to request spraying for your
neighborhood call 454-9741 extension 300 and report your name and address of
the complaint. We do not
have the staff to answer these calls personally; however, calls are retrieved
daily to set larviciding and adulticiding schedules. For information, call
Public Health Sanitarian Adam Dickerson at 454-9741. We spray mosquito problem areas with
larvicide and adulticide every summer to control the population of disease
spreading mosquitoes. Larvicides can be used to control mosquitoes in the aquatic stage before they
become biting adults. This type of control using insecticides generally is the
most effective at controlling mosquitoes and has the least effect on non-target
species and the environment. Adulticides can be used to kill adult mosquitoes that may be infected with
West Nile Virus. Two truck-mounted Ultra Low Volume (ULV) foggers apply the
adulticides used by the Health Department. These units are able to discharge a
small amount of adulticide over a large area. The Health Department sprays
during late evening and dark when adult mosquitoes are most active.
Unfortunately, we cannot spray when it is raining. 2010 Larvicide & Adulticide Spraying Schedules Date General
