Body art establishments in Ohio are regulated under the authority of Chapter 3701 of the Ohio Administrative Code. Body art services must be licensed to operate by the Zanesville-Muskingum County Health Department.
The Health Department licenses and inspects body art establishments to reduce the risk of disease transmission. The goal of this program is to assure that anyone performing tattooing or body piercing procedures follows safety and sanitation standards established by state law. If you are not sure if a tattoo or body piercing operator is licensed, call the number listed below prior to having any work done by them.

Annual License Fees
Permanent tattoo or body piercing operation: $250.00 per year Temporary operation: $50.00 per license
