Financial Assistance for Failing Sewage Systems

ZMCHD is participating in the Ohio EPA’s Water Pollution Control Loan Fund assistance program for the repair and replacement of failing home sewage treatment systems from the Ohio EPA. $129,000 is available in Muskingum County for up to 100% of the eligible cost of a home sewage system repair or replacement.
Homeowners may qualify for one of three tiers of funding, depending upon the size of their households, and their aggregate household incomes. Homeowners must meet the following criteria:
• The homeowner has an earned income of less than 200% of the U. S. Department of Health and Human Services 2009 Poverty Guidelines.
• The sewage system serving the home where the owner resides must be determined to be failing by the local health district.
• The homeowner receiving the assistance is the titled owner of the property where the sewage system will be replaced.
Financial assistance is available on a first come/first serve basis.
There is no penalty for requesting funding. To see if you qualify for a complete or partial repair, contact Sheila Samson at 740-455-7193.
If you have questions about the location of your sewage system or necessary repairs, please call 740-454-9741 and dial 3 for Environmental Health.
